This is a governmet building, the plaque outside says it is the Taoist institute. Foundation stone laid in 1904 by King Edward VII. Completed in 1922, just prior to the Irish Free State being formed. |

120 metres high and is constructed of rolled stainless steel sheet. During the day, the surface will reflect light and the surrounding streetscape. From dusk the lower two thirds of the monument will be softly lit and the tip of the cone will also be illuminated. The circular base at the bottom of the cone will be of Kilkenny black marble.Underneath this spire is a time capsule with some memorable items from our time for people who may uproot the spire in centuries to come.
